Smile please

I thought I would share what my family looks like when I pull out the camera. Groans and eye-rolls abound as proof in this photo.  It screams..."Mom, can't we just be a normal family and play a round of mini golf with out photo op's...we aren't the Kardashian's after all."

So after an emotional plea on this being our last family vacation with Danny going off to college and preserving our family memories {or an attitude adjustment which ever you prefer :) - here is the final result

See, we can be a nice looking family.  :)

Have a great Friday!!

My new toy!

Okay, so I am a little late to the die cut/embossing tools to the scrapbook world. I just never could decide if I really needed one. {Plus I am a little cheap}  Well, I finally broke down and decided to try an embossing machine.  It seems I could have had this little baby a while ago, but I kept misreading the fine print on my Archiver's coupon thinking I couldn't use it on those machines.  It seems it's only a no for the big machines that do all like the Big Shot and others, but not this baby. Plus, Archiver's now has 43% off coupons to help me save even more!  :)  Yay!

Now I am off to play with my new toy. Happy Monday!!

A "new" room to call her own

So I see I am really behind on sharing photos from Emily's bedroom redo.  Not really shocking is it?! :) Before we went on vacation, we took a little shopping trip to Hobby Lobby and Gordmans for some room decor.  Emily wanted to keep it simple and her style so here is what she found. Kind of a Paris meets New York relaxing retreat.

Love the poster of Paris and the mirrors.

Her key theme....Relax

Please pardon the "spirit orbs" floating in the pictures.  I took the one below, one second after this one and no orbs.  My hubby thinks I am crazy, but I do believe these are spirit orbs. Maybe I should stop watching Ghost Adventures.  :)

She is very happy with her room and that is the most important thing!

Just checking it...taking it easy tonight after getting back from our camping trip.  Had a blast and will have some pictures to share tomorrow.  Also gearing up to pick out ten crafts from pinterest to do for the rest of summer break.  Will share those too, when they are complete. Hope you all are enjoying summer so far!

A Bedroom Redo

Emily has been waiting very patiently for the summer to begin because that means her room finally gets to  be repainted.  Being that she is almost 16, she felt that she needed an upgrade to a more mature, less tweeny room.  Here is a before shot:

Did I mention how messy she is?

After agonizing over the color of paint that would go with her new comfort set, she finally decided on a grey shade, and a purple shade.  I purchased the paint that has primer already in it because I thought that would be best and help us go a little quicker.  Umm... not.  It took 2 whole days!!   2 whole days!!  That purple shade was the offender, causing me great headache in coverage. I was using it on one full wall and 2 small walls that house her closet door and bedroom door.  We almost used the whole gallon of paint.  To me that seems crazy!!  But it is finally finished:

Don't you love her new comforter?!

She has since moved her bed back along the grey wall, and the mess is back on the floor.  Once she cleans that up, we can hang her new posters and finish decorating it.  More pictures to follow.
